Volkswagen T4 Transporter Auto-Sleeper Sherbourne Motorhome Model History
Circa 2000 Auto-Sleepers used the latest version of the short wheel base chassis cab T4 Transporter as the base vehicle for a totally new coachbuilt model. It was called the Autosleeper Sherbourne motorhome. The interior had a seating / bedroom area behind the cab seats and opposite that a kitchen area with sink, fridge, cooker and oven and then at the rear offside the shower and toilet cubicle area with seperate shower cubicle, washbasin and flushing toilet. 3) Volkswagen T4 Transporter Autosleeper Sherbourne Colour Options As far as I know the VW Autosleeper Sherbourne was available in 1 colour. T7T7 Grey White R902 (Grauweiß).
4) Volkswagen T4 Transporter Autosleeper Sherbourne Furniture Specification
The Volkswagen T4 Transporter Autosleeper Sherbourne layout consisted of:
Materials Used: Cushions - Curtains - Carpets - Lining Material - Units - Light European Oak Unit Work Surfaces - Light European Oak
A) Fully adjustable driver and passenger cab seats upholstered in same material as rear seats. Passenger seat swivels.
B) Rear had a side and front facing L-shaped seating area that converts into large double bed (2057 mm x 1046 mm).
C) Removable table
D) Truma Ultraheat S3002 thermostatically controlled space heater.
E) Shower cubicle / toilet compartment with Thetford toilet, vanity unit with mirror and wash basin. Shower and wash basin have hot and cold water.
Kitchen unit consisting of: F) Four burner Spinflo Caprice tower cooker and grill with oven below. G) Alongside the cooker unit is the sink and drainer unit with cupboard below. Sink has fold up work top cover. Sink has mixer tap for hot and cold running water.
H) Electrolux three way (gas / 12 volt / 240 volt operated) Fridge / Freezer with electronic ignition system.
I) Overhead lockers above cab area. As an optional extra an overcab bed could be specified instead of lockers.
Other features include: Heki roof light.
Stainless steel roof rack and ladder.
Full carpeting throughout. Mains electric hook up with safety protection via RCCD circuit breaker and two MCB’s. Electrical control panel, water level gauge, switch for water heater and switch for heating. These where mounted on the front facing wall of the rear layout.
12 Volt 60 Amp/Hour second auxiliary equipment battery. Zig X70 or CEC (Plug In Systems) battery charger. 75 litre fresh water tank for pressurised water system with electrically pumped water tap. 52 litre wastewater tank. Truma Ultrastore water heater with mains hook up facility. Carver or Trumatic S3002 space heater. 12 volt Truma blown air heater. Large double glazed windows. Cassette window blinds and flyscreens. Fluorescent lights, reading lights and mains light. Head rests on both cab seats. Fire extinguisher. Intermittent wipe and two speed wipers. Padded steering wheel. Two courtesy lights. Wheel trims. Radio cassette. Thermally lined curtains. Scatter cushions. Specially selected seat fabrics with fire retardant foam. Handcrafted edging on all cabinet work. Tableware for four.
5) Options available at extra cost included: Overhead bed above cab area in place of overhead lockers (1765 mm x 1016 mm).
Sharp microwave oven mounted above fridge / freezer.

6) Volkswagen T4 Transporter Autosleeper Sherbourne Side Stripes and Logos There was normally a small burgundy stripe on the front of the vehicle. a Also there was a burgundy Auto-sleeper logo on the front of the roof and the rear of the body.
Burgundy side stripe.
Burgundy Sherbourne logo on the driver and passenger doors.
There was a lower burgundy pinstripe around the whole van including the front and rear bumpers.
The roof had burgundy stripes at the front, rear and sides and a burgundy Auto-sleepers logo on the front:
