Volkswagen T4 Transporter Auto-Sleeper Trophy Camper Model History
Auto-Sleepers used the new T4 Transporter as the base vehicle for a totally new design of camper called the Autosleeper Trophy which was released circa Nov 1993. It had a solid high top roof and although still based on the short wheel base T4 Transporter the rear of the vehicle was extended to provide a separate bathroom / shower cubicle. The interior had a seating / bedroom area behind the cab seats and then further back a kitchen area with sink, fridge, cooker and oven and then at the rear the shower and bathroom area with fold down washbasin and cassette toilet. Circa 1994 when Volkswagen started making a long wheel base version of the T4 Transporter Auto-sleepers stopped making the SWB Autosleeper Trophy and replaced it with a new LWB model called the Autosleeper Topaz (which had a similar interior layout to the Trophy). Note that during the production period of this model various changes were made to the specification including changes to upholstery materials, electrical control panels, furniture design etc. Where possible I will try and show examples of any updates and the approximate date of any change in the descriptions below.
